Plot:

Piotr Majdrowicz’s film The Misunderstanding of 1978 presents the story of a young photographer in love with an athlete whose pictures he performs. Compulsory heterosexuality has turned out to be a barrier to homosexual fulfillment and as such has become a sign of repressive and alienating PRL.

Majdrowicz portrayed the dilemmas, desires and fantasies of young homosexual men in a poetic way. The originality of his films lies in the fact that through eroticism he managed to convey the trauma of rejection and inner conflict and his frustration. First of all, however, the filmmaker, using the protection of Amateur Film Clubs and censorship, without metaphor used in painting or performance, gave alternative stories and images of masculinity, lust, look and presentation.
