Mark & Russell’s Wild Ride 2015
Unrated | 1h 26min | Adventure, Comedy, Family | TV Movie 23 November 2015
The story follows two best friends Mark and Russell on a crazy adventure through town after Ashley, the most popular girl in school, asks Mark for a ride to an exclusive pool party. Mark’s excitement comes to a quick halt when he remembers one minor detail – he still hasn’t passed his driver’s test after numerous failed attempts. With pressure mounting, Mark and Russell track down Glenn, a DMV instructor known for his easy testing, but on the day Mark attempts the test, Glenn learns that his wife is leaving him and is too distraught to complete the driving test. Left with no other way to get his driver’s license, Mark and his trusty sidekick, Russell, embark on a cross-town adventure with Glenn to help him win his wife back.
Cute buddy comedy with good acting, a decent plot, and a satisfying ending. Solid performances from Sean Giambrone, Chris Gauthier, and Joey Bragg, which is the best we could we hope for with the material they had to work with. Unfortunately, this is a “great” TV movie when compared to the usual dreck that we’ve come to expect from the Disney Channel these days.
I remember when the House of Mouse used to care about their product (the late 90’sxe2x80x94 early 00’s). I truly miss the clever writing, direction, and editing of Kim Possible, Phil of the Future, Even Stevens, and Lizzie McGuire. Since Gravity Falls and Phineas & Ferb were cancelled, the only decent Disney shows currently in production are Star vs. and Penn Zero; the rest are just a waste of time. Disney needs to hire a new programming director, and I would happily take that job.
