User review:
Saw this film at the Toronto Film Festival 2018.. Went on my own,sat beside a couple in their 80’s..They came, because the wife felt it was a story she wanted to understand. It is a story we all need to understand. I see a lot of film, this story and film moved me deeply. The parent child relationship alone offers much to learn from. My very favourite and most. moving experience fron TIFF 2018.Brilliant performances.

This is an excellent Belgium produced film on the subject of transgender. In this case it is a person in a boy`s body wishing to have a gender transformation. The film is in documentary style and follows her life as a ballerina. The star of the film must be the father having just been recently divorced. Her younger 6 year brother is very close to her and acts as a surrogate mother to him and is shown in many of the scenes. Children always zero in on people who have the time to spend with them.
Complications arise when the rest of the ballerinas suspect she is a man and they are extremely nosey to find out exactly what genitalia she has.
To some up the hospital authorities are very over cautious to allow the sex change operation to take place We now live in a risk adverse society leading Lara to force the issue.
This particular film has a limited distribution so far I have only found the film in German, Dutch and French languages
The director uses classical music and blue tinted scenes.
I have a lot of respect for Belgium filmmakers they take on difficult subjects and come out very well with them.
This particular director went on to make the film `Close.`
