Storyline
Karol is a newcomer to the class and instantly called “sissy”. He makes himself disliked by correcting his classmates and eating sandwiches, while everybody else eats dry bread and onions. He tries to make friends with class bully called Balon, and eventually succeeds. The group uses him to steal lollipops and later for an assault on a small child. The victim’s mother seeks out the responsible and Karol is identified. He eventually confesses to his mother and names his accomplices. Branded now as a “squealer” he is avoided by his former friends. During a concert Karol collapses and is carried off.

This film is classified under the drama genre. It is, but it is also mildly funny to see here and there. Here and there not entirely believable: the children are in charge here. The teachers at the school are too mild and show virtually no authority. Not that I think so, but it seems unrealistic. Apart from this a great story: the hierarchy and the group pressure between the boys themselves is well portrayed.

Good little movie. Well worth a watch

Karol is a victim of bullying at school. He tries to make friends with the bullies and eventually succeeds. But now the bullies want him to bully another boy. If he doesn’t do it, he’ll be bullied again. So what does he do? This is an excellent movie and relevant today. Bullying is a real problem among kids today and can lead to tragic consequences.
