Alone with Mr Carter 2011
TV-G | 17min | Short, Drama, Romance | 17 September 2011 (USA)
In 1997, the year Ellen DeGeneres comes out, John is a boy who dreams of becoming a cop. He wants to confide in his neighbor, Mr. Carter, that he is secretly in love with him. Time is of the essence as the 65-year-old heterosexual detective is moving away forever.
An old man. And a boy. A link so delicate than it is easy to see it as too risky subject. But, in this case, it works. In admirable manner. Because it is a story about deep friendship. About sensitivity of ages. About atmosphere of a small place. About the force or mark or emotion inspired by the other.Because Robert Naylor does a magnificent job. In real sense, this short film is a poem. About the most significant things defining us. About love at early age. And about the age of compromises. All simple and freshness.
