Something About Alex 2018
Anders (original title)
19min | Short, Drama | 10 June 2018 (USA)
Alex a 14-year-old teenager, develops a close friendship with his older sister’s boyfriend, and must confront the depth of his feelings when the couple announces that they will be moving away. An enigmatic coming-of-age tale that will pull at your heartstrings, emphasizing the importance of supporting youth who bravely proclaim their right to be different to a society that is often merciless and cruel.
What a brilliant little movie. The surprise twist at the end is Hitchcock-esque! Everything that seemed odd suddenly becomes clear. Great performance from the young lead. Watched this in a package along with the several other short films from across the world at Kashish Queer Film Festival in Mumbai, India and it was one of my favorites.
