Storyline:August is a carefree boy who likes to discover the world and to play outside with his best friend Lize. One day, he encounters the seamy side of life and suddenly Lize doesn’t want to see him anymore.User review:“August” is a dreamy tale, both literally and figuratively told from the child: the camera is as bouncy as the two main characters and is close to August and Lize. Their innocence translates into a sea of light and adults remain marginal figures who never fully occupy a full place in the story. There is no music, only the sounds that the environment produces. As a result, the focus is on what can be seen on the screen, what increases the intensity, and further enhances the realistic character. August represents pure innocence, while Lize has seen and experienced everything despite her early age. The children play their roles well, but the great strength of “August” is mainly visually. Perceval has a keen eye for poetic images full of light and warmth. Behind the camera, this Flemish actor is apparently just as convincing as before.
